Hard bop jazz messenger Bobby Watsons' debut solo LP is an unusual affair, mixing a soul dance beat of the late 70's to his compositions. It's rather hit and miss for me, (the tempo over dominating in cases) but worth a listen for the Blakey favourite 'Time will Tell' and 'The Roland Prince' featuring the titled guitarist.

ReplyDeleteThsmks. I agree it's an uneven album but it hss its moments. And I'm always interested to hear Roland Prince, a much underrated musician. It is high time to recognise the contribution of West Indian musicians to the history of jazz.
